The white side of the board is a whole different story. Horsey uses very abrupt yet effective language such as “FREE” and “From Indians/From Blacks” to signify historical exploitation and manipulation. He also intensifies this effect by letting the player “Take another turn” and “Jump 2 spaces” in a way that lets the observer know that it is not very difficult to get ahead as a white. This is historically accurate, as whites did manipulate, use, and force Indians to give up land and Africans to give up freedom. This was in efforts to get ahead, in which whites were undeniably successful and consequently became the dominant race. The terminology is definitely effective in characterizing not only the ease on the white side, but the difficulties on the African American side as well.
